1 day Paediatric First Aid training

The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies (Parents, Grandparents and babysitters) and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

The course is accredited and regulated by Ofqual and is delivered over a minimum of 6 hours. The assessment process is an ongoing practical assessment during the course and completing a written paper.

The course will cover:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider
  • Responding to an emergency
  • How to carry out a primary survey
  • How to place a child in the recovery position
  • Resuscitation and the safe use of AED’s (Defibrillator)
  • Seizures
  • Choking
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Minor injuries


The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.

All candidates must be a minimum age of 16 years.

Costings and attendance numbers:

The course costs either £60 per person with a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 candidates, or, if I come to your site a flat rate fee of £540 can be chosen with no minimal number required but up to a maximum of 12 candidates.  These prices include the course text book, a basic first aid kit, and the certificate.
